Nintendo and Game Freak announced that Pokemon Scarlet & Violet will be getting two expansion packs that will launch at some point in 2023 earlier this year, though details surrounding them have been fairly slim since their initial reveal. However, today's new Pokemon Presents showcase has finally given us a release date for the first DLC expansion called The Teal Mask, as well as our first look at the land of Kitakami in which the expansion takes place.

We also got a look at two new characters you'll meet on your new adventure called Carmine, Kieran, and Perrin, as well as a Paldean form for Applin called Dipplin, who looks a lot like candy apple. We also got to see a bit more of the environment, as well as a range of different minigames that involve you going through rings while riding your Pokemon and taking pictures. Best of all, we don't have to wait that long to dive into Kitakami either, as The Teal Mask DLC will launch next month on September 13.

We also got information on the second DLC expansion, that being The Indigo Disk, which will take players to Blueberry Academy, an underwater school with a focus on Pokemon battling. We learnt that The Indigo Disk will have you taking on a new challenge called the BB League with its own specific Elite Four. A new evolution for Duraludon called Archuladon also featured briefly in the trailer, as well as some of the characters you'll meet throughout the DLC. No release date for this one though, as it's still has a relatively vague window of Winter 2023.

Besides the information we got today, prior reveals regarding The Teal Mask DLC has shown us that it will introduce at least three new Pokemon, those being Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. We also know that The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk DLC will add over 230 returning Pokemon to Scarlet & Violet's Pokedex, including a bunch of fan favorites from previous generations.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC wasn't the only thing announced during the showcase though, as we also got a new trailer for Detective Pikachu Returns which launches in October later this year, the announcement that Gen 9 will be coming to Pokemon Go next month, as well as the reveal that both the GBA Pokemon Trading Card Game and Pokemon Stadium 2 are coming to Nintendo Switch Online. Not only that, but they'll be available to download and play later today, letting us all relive our childhoods once again.
