Everyone knows that the world of Pokemon is one that will never slow down. There will always be new games and regions to explore, but as the various monsters become more and more varied, it will get harder and harder to come up with unique ideas. The easiest solution to that? Spin-off games!

Every Pokemon fan has likely at least heard of the many Detective Pikachu and other spin-off games, so maybe it’s time for another creature to get the spotlight. They may not all be as adorable as Pikachu, but they all have unique charms that allow for some exciting spin-off game potential.

10 Lucario

Lucario Charging Up Aura Sphere

One of the most obvious choices for a solo game is Lucario. For whatever reason, fans and the higher-ups at Pokemon seem to love this creature. The fantastic design and unique quirks of Lucario make it a rather interesting creature, so all the fan love only makes a solo game an even bigger must.

While you could do a lot with Lucario, it would probably be easy to put it in some kind of beat-em-up. The iconic Fighting-Type could have some of its most famous moves as super attacks as it fights through stages in an effort to save its owner from the nefarious plot of an evil team.

9 Eevee

Considering Eevee has become one of the most popular Pokemon in recent years thanks to both its adorable design and the fact that it can change to fit into most people’s preferred typing, it only makes sense Eevee had its own line of games.

While it would probably be tougher to make a dedicated game for a pokemon like Eevee, it wouldn’t be much of a challenge to make some kind of adventure game featuring all the Eeveelutions or some kind of simulator game in which you care for your very own Eevee.

8 Gardevoir

Gardevoir stands in a stadium surrounded by grass

Since Gardevoir mixes Psychic-Type and Fairy-Type, the kind of game the Pokemon would need would also be quite limited. A fun little adventure game could probably be made, but it would be even better to use psychic powers in some kind of puzzle game.

Gardevoirs seem like creatures with good intentions, so maybe they could be assisting people across one of the Pokemon regions after the rampage of a legendary creature. This could provide a simple game with a surprisingly interesting story, especially if the Gardevoir didn’t have a trainer.

7 Charizard

Pokemon: Charizard standing in the crystal covered cave in the great crater of Paldea

You can do pretty much whatever you want with a literal fire-breathing dragon, so why not give Charizard its own game? Charizard has been a fan-favorite since the original game’s release, and the anime only further solidified that fact.

A great game for Charizard would be one that would let it fly through the skies of a region, so potentially some kind of Crazy Taxi-style game could be fun. Seeing Charizard race through regions to get Pokemon or trainers where they need to go could be a surprising hit.

6 Greninja

With all the love Greninja has been receiving from the Super Smash Bros community, it would almost be a waste not to give the fantastically designed Water-Type its own game. It’s a ninja frog, so you’d pretty much have your choice of any genre you wanted.

The developers could get really creative with the idea and have Greninja acting as some kind of Pokemon secret agent. That way, the game could feature action and adventure as Greninja works to stop the nefarious plans of whichever evil team you prefer.

5 Mewtwo

Mewtwo floats in the night sky in the Midgar stage

Considering all the lore and stories that have already been told around Mewtwo, it’s sort of surprising that it hasn’t already had a solo game. A story-driven game would be great for Mewtwo, and it wouldn’t be hard to throw in some exciting combat.

Exploring a story of scientists running tests on Mewtwo only for the creature to break free and be immediately pursued by evil groups and trainers alike could make for a really fascinating tale. The story could even try something new and pose a question as to whether what Pokemon trainers do is truly right.

4 Snorlax

Snorlax rests on the ground in a forest surrounded by food

Snorlax is a beloved Pokemon, but if most people were honest, they’d admit that the creature really doesn’t have a lot of flexibility to it. Snorlax is a large, lumbering, and sleepy creature, so it’s not like one will be running around a 3D world at full sprint.

The best bet for a game for Snorlax would probably be some kind of puzzle game. It might be interesting if the game's many puzzles revolved around creative ways in which you needed to wake a slumbering Snorlax for a variety of different reasons and in a variety of different situations.

3 Mudkip

It was a bit of a missed opportunity that Nintendo didn’t capitalize on the popularity of Mudkip that spawned out of that old meme. The cute creature is a powerful one, but it’s also one of the most famous starter Pokemon from the series.

It wouldn’t be hard to center an adventure game around a baby Mudkip. If the Mudkip’s family was kidnapped by an evil team, you could control it as you make your way across a familiar region, recruit friends to help and lead a charge to finally get your Mudkip family back.

2 Blaziken

Blaziken attacks from the air in a cave

Pretty much any Pokemon that is at least in part a Fighting-Type can work in most video games. Thanks to Blaziken’s design and potential moveset, a darker story for a Pokemon game might be interesting. This game could focus on a Blaziken who’s lost their trainer.

The entire game could see that Blaziken on a path of vengeance as it battles its way through pokemon and trainers alike. That idea might be a bit darker than the higher-ups at Nintendo will be willing to go, but it’s hard to deny how interesting a game like this could be.

1 Gengar

Gengar opening its mouth wide

Gengar might just be one of the best Pokemon out there, and it seems like most people agree. A lot could be done with a Ghost-Type Pokemon, so mixing a bit of comedy in with a bit of horror, kind of in the style of Luigi’s Mansion, could make for a great game.

Maybe a Gengar’s home has become a frequent place for trainers seeking to catch the Pokemon, and it decides that the best way to solve this problem is by scaring any and all intruders.
