The Resident Evil 4 remake adds additional content and brings in what old-school players remember. So, if you are not tired of being in Leon's shoes, then you will want to know what you can do after completing the main campaign. From collectibles to new modes, the fun of killing infected cultists who kidnaped the President's daughter never stops.

Updated by Tristan Zelden on May 1, 2023: When this list was first written, we omitted the Mercenaries Mode because it did not launch with the game upon release. The mode is a fan-favorite for the series, and now veterans and newcomers can enjoy it. Now that the mode is here, we have updated this list to include information about what the mode entails, including details about the characters you play and its replayable value. We also updated the featured image to better represent it by including an image from the time-attack mode. Now, you have another reason to dive back into Resident Evil 4 Remake after completing the main story.

8 Mercenaries Mode

Mercenaries Mode is a staple in the Resident Evil series. In Resident Evil 4 Remake, you will be in this time-attack mode to kill up to 150 enemies for the best score and ranking possible. It is all about killing and keeping the timer from going down, leading to various runs of experimentation to see what works best.

A part of the attraction comes from the playable characters. Aside from Leon, you can play as Luis, Hunk, and Kraus. Each of the characters has their own stats and loadouts, giving them an identity across each of the featured stages. Play around and see who you like best to earn the maximum rank.

7 New Game Plus

Upon finishing the story, you will have the option for New Game Plus to carry over your gear and start over as a heavier-armed Leon Kennedy. Anything on your person, from weapons to ammo to gems, you will have it all with you on your new try at saving Ashley.

Side quests and story items, like keys, will not carry over. The mode makes for the perfect way to go in more powerful. It also helps when you get the courage to go up a difficulty level. If you are up for a challenge, this is the best way to go to give yourself the upper hand.

6 Professional Mode

If you want a challenge, Professional Mode is the ultimate way to go about pushing your killing and saving people's daughter skills. Without auto-saves, deaths weigh more, so you better take advantage of those typewriters when you spot them.

Other elements of the gameplay are modified to crank the heat on you. If there is anything you want to buy, the prices are higher. When it comes to enemies, they are stronger and harder to parry. So, before you go into this mode, you better practice parrying attacks.

5 Gather Collectibles And Purchase Items

Resident Evil 4 has plenty of collectibles or items to obtain or purchase. Even when you are finished with the game, you can always go back to gather those remaining Clockwork Castellans or earn those useful items you did not purchase last time.

The other collectibles are the various treasures you can sell to the Merchant. You can buy maps from him to see where they are, but getting to their locations or obtaining a key can be tricky. If you miss any on the first try, you can always do it again and get the ones you missed.

4 Complete Challenges

Challenges, which are like achievements/trophies but in-game, despite some crossover, earn you Challenge Points to earn new rewards. The challenges are an added thing to do, whether you are an achievement hunter or not, as this benefits your Resident Evil 4 experience rather than your profile on your platform.

While many are tied to the story, or you can gain naturally, plenty earn the title of being called a challenge. Multiple Hardcore and Professional Mode challenges put you to the test with the difficulty and a timer on when you need to finish the game. Others get more elaborate, like Minimalist, which asks you to complete the game using only knives and pistols.

3 Complete Achievement/Trophy List

No matter your platform, there are trophies or achievements to earn. Most of them are tied to the main story to increase your PlayStation level or up your Gamerscore for an easier time while having fun challenges to keep you engaged for more playthroughs.

The gameplay-focused ones can be earned naturally, like earning Knife Basics for parrying. Meanwhile, it can get more creative and take more of your focus to earn the accomplishment. For example, if you are brave enough, you can earn Never Heard It Coming for killing a Garrador only with a knife.

2 Earn Cosmetics And Other Accessories

Using those Challenge Points can earn you all sorts of fun things. Although some are locked unless you do something specific and have enough of this currency, many you can buy for cosmetic and mechanical uses.

The split leans heavily on cosmetics and art, but plenty of it can help you on other runs. Visually, you can earn concept art and models of characters. Leon and Ashley can show off their drip with six different outfits. If you prefer firepower, then you can earn new guns like the Chicago Sweeper, Handcannon, and Primal Knife will give you the edge, especially if you are daring enough to up the difficulty to Hardcore or Professional.

1 Get S Ranks In All Shooting Ranges

At one point, the Merchant will have an elevator outside of his quarters. When you take it down, you have a shooting range to gun down pirates. These challenges can earn you tokens to exchange for Charms that will grant you bonus attributes to aid you on your journey.

The Charms act both as cute accessories when you open your inventory as well as perks. You can gain a higher drop rate on specific types of ammo to curate your weapon preferences to ones that focus on your healing. Being able to equip multiple Charms lets you customize a build that helps in the backend while you are fighting through the various environments.
