Though you’ve got plenty to worry about as you traverse the kingdom of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll keep bumping into Addison, a perhaps too-faithful employee of Hudson Construction. Addison has been given the task of hanging signs for Hudson Constriction all around Hyrule, but not one of his signs will stay standing on its own.
Thankfully, Link can use Ultrahand to forge solutions for Addison that help him keep the signs standing. Our guide will tell you where to find all Addison locations in Tears of the Kingdom, and how to help him.
Updated on August 7, 2023: Now that Tears of the Kingdom has been out for a bit, we've found about 30 more Addison locations in TOTK than before. We've updated our guide to include all 81 Addison locations and more detailed info on where to find him, as well as info about the reward you get for finding all Addison locations.
This guide contains small spoilers for elements of Tears of the Kingdom.
How Do I Help Addison Hold Up Signs?
As you venture through Hyrule, you'll see a lone man trying to support a broken sign. This is Addison, an employee of Hudson Construction who is passionate about not letting the signs he's building hit the ground.
The first time you see Addison will be fairly early, as you leave Lookout Landing to find Captain Hoz at Hyrule Castle on direction from Purah when you first land in Hyrule.
However, Addison can't do this project on his own - his signs are broken, and he needs your help making sure the glory of President Hudson can stand tall.
When you speak to Addison, you're able to tell him to let go of the sign, and by default, the sign will fall out and hit the ground, prompting panic from Addison.
In order to help Addison with his frustrating sign construction (seriously, this man is going to build houses after this?), you'll need to make ample use of your new Ultrahand ability. Sure, players are using it to torture Addison instead, but if you help him, he'll offer you an assortment of loot.
Every time you find Addison, you'll also find a nearby platform of complimentary building materials, provided so kindly by Hudson Construction, Addison's company.
Fuse these materials and use them to support Addison's sign. You can't fuse the materials to the sign, but you can set them on the ground in a way that the sign will stay standing when Addison lets go.
When you're all set with your build, tell Addison to let go of his sign. He hesitantly listens, and he rewards you if his sign stays standing after he's dropped his grip on it. He'll remark, "H-he's standing?" to let you know when this has been achieved.
Below are all the rewards we've received by helping Addison. You'll receive three of these items each time you help Addison.
- Rupees in varying amounts.
- Cooked meals, typically a Rice Ball dish but occasionally with additional effects.
- Sleepover Tickets that allow you to spend a free night at a stable.
- Bomb Flowers.
- Puffshrooms.
Tips To Keep President Hudson Standing
The mission to help Addison would be too easy if all the signs were broken in the same way, though, so you'll find a number of problems with Addison's signs each time you see him. Your designs will not often be pretty, but they don't need to be - they just need to hold up the sign.
Addison's signs, terrains, and available materials will be different each time you see Addison, so be sure to check out the sign before trying to fix it. Keep in mind that the sign will almost always fall opposite of Addison.
You've likely noticed before running into Addison how finicky the physics engine is in Tears of the Kingdom, so rushed signs won't typically work.
That said, the sign only needs to stay up for a few seconds to wow Addison into finishing the construction.
Players have had the best luck using large boards for a flat base on which to attach their other materials. This provides you with a stable, flat ground, which might not always be where Addison is building his sign.
You can also use the environment to help, too - anything like boulders, snowballs, or anything you can grab with Ultrahand is a viable piece of the solution.
But you aren't limited to the provided building materials or the environment when helping Addison, though. If you have any Zonai devices that can help out, you're free to use them.
Whether it's conventional uses like Stakes for support, or a more "creative" solution, the option is always on the table.
If you find a configuration that works well with Addison's signs, save it in your Autobuild catalog for faster construction later on.
Where To Find Addison In Tears Of The Kingdom
As you continue to unlock the map of Hyrule throughout Tears of the Kingdom, you'll continue to bump into Addison and his busted sign in dozens of different spots.
Addison will primarily be found along mapped roads, effectively erecting Hudson Construction billboards for travelers throughout Hyrule. That said, he can also be pretty far off the beaten path as well, so be vigilant as you explore.
Grab one of your horses from the conveniently-located stables along the route and take off along the winding roads of Hyrule.
We found it helpful to mark where you saw Addison on your map with a pin of some kind, to keep track of where you've been and where you've already helped put up a sign.
Addison is advertising in a lot of places, so marking them off will be especially helpful when cross-referencing our list below.
We've done our best to organize the tables below into the major regions of Hyrule, but you may find some signs that straddle regional borders filed into the neighboring area.
