Diablo 4 is the best-selling game for Blizzard of all time, and it's just getting started. In just five days, revenue surpassed $666 million dollars in sales. Arguably, the winning way is to grind dungeons for XP. With so many dungeons to choose from, we're here to provide a little guidance for what we think are the best dungeons to efficiently gain experience (and get some good loot too!).

10 Guulrahn Canals

Located in Jahka Basin within the Dry Steppes, Guulrahn Canals is a perfect grinding dungeon if you're looking for a quick run that can be repeated with speed. Just make sure that you don't end up in Guulrahn Slums by accident! Your experience will be much different.

This dungeon is smaller in size, granting quick and easy access to enemies. The map layout tends to be more maze-like instead of linear, so there will be some backtracking. This can make it easy to miss some chests, but if you're just running for XP, your first concern is eliminating all enemies for the objective. The more compact area is fantastic for this purpose.

9 Blind Burrows

Diablo 4 Necromancer and 7 minions fighting Blind Burrows dungeon boss, Broodguard

Spiders, spiders everywhere! Blind Burrows is an expansive mid-sized dungeon that can be found in the Hawezar region. Although a bit on the larger size, the spacious areas decrease the odds of being swarmed by mobs and a straight shot through (assuming you take the right path). This means you can also complete this dungeon quickly and repeat for rapid XP gain.

Unlike Guulrahn Canals, there is a boss fight at the end of the dungeon. If you are looking for the most effective use of time to quickly level, skip the boss and just repeat the run. If you get the right path on the first try, this is another dungeon that can be completed in minutes.

8 Maulwood

The capitol of crowd control. Maulwood is a dungeon that contains many massive mobs throughout, making character builds equipped for area-of-effect attacking very valuable. As it's located in Dobrev Taiga in Fractured Peaks, you can expect to encounter lots of Wood Wraiths. These enemies can be fickle fiends that are not only strong but can also slow down your speed runs.

While there is no boss and plenty of mobs, this dungeon can prove difficult if not paying attention. There is the additional element of traps to contend with when fending off multiple monsters at once, which can be a lot to handle if your character is not prepared. However, the XP from these large crowds of foes can be beneficial for the right build.

7 Champion's Demise

Champion's Demise is another dungeon located in the Dry Steppes. Unlike its neighbor Guulrahn Canals, you can expect a large layout inside. The benefit of this is more space equals more enemies. The downside is that they tend to stun your character. This can prove to be irritating, especially when your goal is to farm as much XP as quickly as possible.

If you're prepared to be stunned by both the large mobs and the boss and travel the long path through, you can gain a ton of XP.

6 Mercy's Reach

Mercy's Reach is a smaller dungeon that can be found in the Fractured Peaks region, specifically Sarkova Pass. Besides presenting you with some elite monsters along with the generic groups, this is a dungeon that is great for farming loot as well as XP. If you're looking to knock out two goals at once, this is the place to do it.

The small size of this dungeon compared to other farming grounds allows for multiple runs. The three elites are your best bet for the most XP and the best use of time to repeat the strategy. Focusing on them also allows you time to check out all the chests for some great drops.

5 Aldurwood

Found in The Shrouded Moors in Scosglen, Aldurwood is another fantastic smaller sized dungeon for the fast and furious runs we love for XP gain. But don't let the small size fool you. These enemies are large and in charge and will charge you if you aren't geared for the challenge.

The objectives for this dungeon are fairly simple as you only have to kill three Aldurkin to gain access to the boss, Den Mother. If you go in ready to take a few hard hits, this can be rushed solo or in a group with a quickness for great XP opportunities.

4 Sarats Lair

Diablo 4 character standing next to the corpse of a spider enemy in Sarats Lair dungeon

Diablo 4 does love its spider dungeons! Like Blind Burrows, expect this location within Scosglen to be full of these eight-legged enemies. What makes Sarats Lair great for XP farming is its small size. The tricky aspect is the narrow passages throughout the maze-like layout.

The main thing to be aware of when doing your runs is to not get trapped by large groups in the lean corridors. As long as you move forward and eliminate every monster in your path along the way, you should be able to repeat this dungeon quickly without getting stalled by swarms.

3 Witchwater

Diablo 4 world map showing Witchwater dungeon location

Found in Blightmarsh in Hawezar, Witchwater is much like Sarats Lair in its small and tight spaces. However, the majority of the mobs here are spiders and snakes, which are generally easy to knock out quickly in high numbers. If you can stay on your guard and push forward through the confined map, you can make this a quick XP beneficial run.

A difference between Witchwater and Sarats Lair is layout. Sarats Lair is more like a labyrinth where Witchwater is more straight lines with dead end paths. If you prefer a more linear path for efficiently running, this is a great choice for you.

2 Sunken Ruins

Diablo 4 necromancer and 11 minions standing at entrance to Sunken Ruins dungeon

Also found in Scosglen, Sunken Ruins is one of the larger dungeons on this list. While this means lots of exploring to get to all the monsters for XP, it also has the benefit of not being trapped and mobbed in small, tight spaces.

This dungeon does not have a boss but an elite instead. Unlike other dungeons where it's sometimes best to leave the boss alone in the name of speed, this is an easier kill with XP benefit. And, of course, the loot.

1 Dead Man's Dredge

Diablo 4 character fighting an Animus in Dead Man's Dredge dungeon

Gale Valley in Fractured Peaks is home to the Dead Man's Dredge. Like Sunken Ruins, there is no boss fight at the end. But the amount of enemies in crowds throughout the entire dungeon more than compensate. There is also a great variety of types of foes for plenty of variety.

The layout is pretty easy to follow without getting lost or stuck in too many dead ends, making it fantastic for quick runs with lots of XP farming. You also have a higher opportunity for better drops thanks to the Animus Carriers.
