Baldur's Gate 3 has been a huge success since coming out of early access, amassing a whopping 800,000 all-time peak player count on Steam with console ports still to come. Now the game's been out a little while, developer Larian Studios has managed to put together an interesting list of statistics revealing the game's most popular class, race, and other little factoids. It even has a little section dedicated to everyone's romance options, and there seems to be a clear favorite amongst the community.

Every one of Baldur's Gate 3's companions is an absolute snack in their own way, but Larian has revealed that everyone's favorite half-elf Cleric is the companion that the majority of players have ended up romancing. Despite initially being prickly and a tad bit racist towards Githyanki and Tieflings, it seems like a lot of people out there think they can fix Shadowheart regardless. I guess some people just like a project.

While the majority of players have their hearts set on Shadowheart, that doesn't mean none of Baldur's Gate 3's other companions haven't been getting any love. According to these stats, it shows that Gale is second in line for the award for most romanced character, although there could've been a chance for it to be Astarion if almost 100,000 players hadn't been rejected by him. Hey, there's plenty of fish in the sea guys.

Shadowheart sits with a goblet of wine in Baldur's Gate 3

While most of the game's cast of companions are fairly popular, you start to understand why Shadowheart is so sought after once you take your search to social media, which has been chock full of Shadowheart thirst posts ever since Baldur's Gate 3 launched. Then again, there's tonnes of thirst posts about every companion, so maybe Baldur's Gate 3 players are just relentlessly randy.

Of course, the most popular romance option wan't the only interesting statistic from this fun little post from Larian, as it also revealed that the Paladin is the most popular class and Half-Elf is the most popular race for those that created their own custom characters.

It also revealed that we've all spent far too long actually making our characters too, as Baldur's Gate 3 players have apparently spent a combined total of 88 years in the game's character creator, with almost 10 percent of players spending at least an hour meticulously crafting their perfect character. Given that most players will be Dungeons & Dragons fans, that's perfectly understandable.
