The Brazillian Xbox account just made a Father's Day post. Sounds innocent enough, right? Well, it would be were it not for one crucial detail: Final Fantasy 7 Remake is there.

Right in the middle, among the other famous gaming fathers, we can see Barret with his daughter Marlene, straight from the PlayStation and PC exclusive Remake. Not the original game, which is available on Xbox. This has fans hypothesizing that the account just accidentally leaked an Xbox port of the Final Fantasy game, because why else would it promote a game that isn't on its consoles?

The tweet has since been deleted, but not before it was spotted by ReserEra user The_Iceman2288. We also saved it on the Wayback Machine, if you want to see a bunch of hyped fans wondering if they've just seen the first confirmation that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is finally ending its PlayStation console exclusivity.

According to my fine Google translate skills, the tweet translates to "Happy Father's Day to all families." Some in the ResetEra thread had wondered if the image was actually one of those "not you" memes, implying that Barret is a bad dad, for whatever reason. Not only is he a good papa, this theory also doesn't line up with the text on the image. The "Pais" in "Dia dos Pais" makes the phrase "Father's Day", so Barret has the most prominent place of all.

The account hasn't made any kind of comment on all of the speculation, not even explaining why it took the tweet down.

Non-believers say that the tweet simply came from a social media worker Googling something like "best gaming dads", throwing Barret in the image without realising the implication of his inclusion here. However, since whoever's running the account over the weekend hasn't come out and said it was a mistake, it's not clear what happened. And if wanting to show some love to video game dads was the intention, that makes deleting the post even stranger.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Of course, even if this post isn't part of some grand conspiracy and was simply a mistake, then a port to Xbox wouldn't be totally surprising. Square Enix isn't a first-party studio for PlayStation, so it's possible that any exclusivity is on a temporary basis. It's now on PC after all, and there's bound to be plenty of Xbox Series X/S users eager to try out the much-loved remake.

What would complicate matters, however, is that Xbox players would then be in for a huge wait for any future instalments. Like the recent Final Fantasy 16, the next part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series will also be PlayStation exclusive. That means that Xbox fans would not only have to wait for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth to launch, but then wait several years after that for any potential port. That is, of course, if it follows a similar route to Remake - it's possible Square has renegotiated the deal for Rebirth.

That's all hypothetical though, as is this possible news of a Remake port. We'll have to wait and see if anything comes from it.
