There are a lot of ways to catch 'em all, playing Pokemon games or collection trading cards among them. Your chosen method of Pokemon collecting may well be through buying plushes, and there are a lot out there to choose from. Soft toy versions of just about every Pokemon that has ever been created, and some of them, like Pikachu, have multiple versions to choose from.

Best Pokemon Plushes

miraidon plush
via Pokemon Center
Miraidon Plush

Pokemon Violet introduced a brand new paradox Pokemon before you even opened the box as Miraidon was right there on the cover. Now the motorbike-style Pokemon is a plush too, in drive mode or standing up.

Pros
  • The better of Scarlet & Violet's two cover Pokemon
  • Already in drive mode so ready for anything
Cons
  • Well, anything that doesn't require walking

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet introduced something called paradox Pokemon, and leading that reveal, at least in Violet, was Miraidon. A bike-like Pokemon you find at the start of your adventure who eventually gets its powers back as you progress on your journey. Miraidon is now a plush too, in its drive mode so it's ready to go on a brand new adventure in the real world.

koraidon pokemon plush
via Pokemon Center
Koraidon Plush

If you opted for Pokemon Scarlet, then Koraidon was the paradox Pokemon waiting for you. Also now available as a plush, for some reason its bike form isn't called drive mode, but is described as being its sprinting form.

Pros
  • Okay, Koraidon is pretty cool too
  • Having both would make for some great photo ops
Cons
  • Joking, Miraidon is better!

If you picked Pokemon Scarlet instead of Violet, then Koraidon was the bike Pokemon waiting for you. Also following you on your Paldean Pokemon journey, Koraidon was designed to look like it had been pulled from the past as opposed to the future. The lesser of the two paradox Pokemon in my opinion, but hey, if you can afford both, just imagine how much better your Pokemon plush collection will be for it.

sprigatito pokemon plush
via Pokemon
Sprigatito Pokemon Plush

Sprigatito was introduced to Pokemon via Scarlet & Violet and the love it got out the gate made it an obvious pick to be among the first from its gen to get the plush treatment.

Pros
  • Best starter from Scarlet & Violet
  • Best grass starter full stop (sorry Bulbasaur)
  • Taller than an actual cat with none of the mess
Cons
  • You could buy four smaller Oshawott plushes for the same price

It took Pokemon nine generations, but with Scarlet & Violet, they finally figured out what we all want from a grass-type starter. An adorable little cat that follows us around on our adventures. Pokemon also quickly realized we weren't okay with only seeing Sprigatito when looking at our Switch screens. That's why it immediately got immortalized in plush form, and even though it's a little more expensive than most other options, if you're assembling a collection or picking just one plush, you need Sprigatito.

gengar large microbead plush
via Pokemon
Gengar Large Microbead Plush

Objectively the best Pokemon ever, owning as many forms of Gengar as possible is an absolute must. This beanbag form of the Ghost-type is the best way yet to honor Gengar in plush form.

Pros
  • Objectively the best Pokemon across all generations
  • Squidgy and full of beads for maximum cuddle satisfaction
Cons
  • Oddly expensive from certain online stores

More than 1,000 Pokemon later, it's amazing to think the series' creators nailed it at the first time of asking. That's right, the very best Pokemon was created during gen one more than two decades ago, and that Pokemon was Gengar. That's just a fact. Sorry, I don't make the rules. I'm sure you already own enough Gengar merch to fill a Pokemart, but if you do have room for one more item on your Gengar shrine, make it this plush. Or, you know, you can just snuggle it at night, although I think that's when Ghost-types are most active so I wouldn't recommend it.

mareep pokemon plush keychain
via Pokemon
Mareep Happy Spring Pokemon Plush Keychain
$26 $30 Save $4

A keychain plush for Pokemon fans looking for something a little smaller than a full-sized plush, and Mareep is the perfect 'mon for the job.

Pros
  • A smaller, cheaper way to add to your plush collection
  • Covertly carry your Pokemon fandom with you everywhere
  • Hard to lose your keys when there's a Mareep attached to them
Cons
  • Non-Pokemon fans will just think you're really into sheep
  • Not the best sheep Pokemon, looking at you Wooloo

As a grown man who has loved Pokemon for more than 20 years, I know it can be tricky to appreciate the series without being judged. No, it's not fair, but unfortunately, it's a reality. If I walk around with a Pikachu plush peeping out of my Mewtwo backpack, people will probably laugh at me. If that bothers you, this Mareep plush keychain might well be the answer you've been looking for. A smaller, slightly less overt way of appreciating Pokemon and if any small-minded non-Pokemon fans ask you why you have it, just tell them you're a farmer and it's a sheep.

Spheal Pokemon Plush
via Pokemon
Spheal Pokemon Plush

Making all other plushes look small in comparison, Pokemon went all out when it made this Spheal. Standing at almost 40 inches tall, it might be the closest Poke plush on the market to an actual pet.

Pros
  • It's absolutely massive
  • So big, it basically counts as furniture
  • Can be the focal point of any room it's in
Cons
  • It's absolutely massive
  • Yes, that really is how much it costs

For those unashamed of their Pokemon fandom, and with a significant chunk of change burning a hole in their pocket, there's the Spheal plush. Standing at more than 39 inches tall (that's about the same height as your average three-year-old), Pokemon's Spheal plush is one of the biggest on the market at this time. You'll need to make sure you have room for Spheal as yes, it's effectively like bringing an additional piece of furniture into the house. The bright side is unlike a three-year-old, it can be used as furniture, offered up as a chair if you have guests. It's probably more expensive than your average chair, though. Wait, is it? I don't know. I'm not a chair guy, I'm a plush guy.

lechonk pokemon plush
via Pokemon
Lechonk Pokemon Plush

Lechonk was one of the first new additions shown during the build to Scarlet & Violet's launch, and Pokemon fans immediately fell in love. Of course, that meant it was one of the first gen nine Pokemon to get a plush.

Pros
  • Gen nine's best Pokemon in plush form
  • Round, soft, and adorable, the perfect plush ingredients
Cons
  • It looks so sad!
  • You have attained the perfect plush, so what now?

There always tends to be one Pokemon introduced via each gen the entire fandom falls in love with. Nine generations in, Pokemon has gotten pretty good at figuring out which of its new creations that's going to be. That's why when Scarlet & Violet ads and gameplay started to drop, Lechonk was one of the first new Pokemon we were shown. An adorable little pig Pokemon, and also one of the first creatures you encounter on your Paldean journey. Now you can bring Lechonk home with you and stare into his sad little eyes as much as you like. Seriously, why does it look like it's crying? I can't handle it.

Ball Guy Pokemon Plush
via Pokemon
Ball Guy Pokemon Plush

No, a Pokemon plush doesn't have to be an actual Pokemon. It can be the weird mascot that gives you Pokeballs in Sword & Shield. Thankfully, the Ball Guy plush isn't lifesize.

Pros
  • A non-Pokemon for your Pokemon plush collection
  • Pretty cheap for what might be the most unique plush out there
Cons
  • Ball Guy is super creepy
  • Non-Pokemon fans will wonder what the hell he is

Yes, I thought I'd wait until the very end of this guide to get weird with it. The Ball Guy has his own plush, and for just $20, I really think you should own it. Ball Guy is the weird mascot you'll find in gyms around Sword & Shield's Galar region, and although he looks like something straight out of a Pokemon nightmare, Ball Guy is pretty friendly. He'll give you Pokeballs for free, and he's easy to spot since he literally has a Pokeball for a head. I'm hoping it's actually a helmet of some sort as having a massive Pokeball for a head would make for a pretty miserable existence. Helmet or not, in plush form, the head stays on.
