One thing that Disney is great at is storytelling and doing so through pictures. So it isn’t shocking that one of the things drawing people to Lorcana is the designs. Excluding the Enchanted cards, here are some of the most alluring from an artistic standpoint.

10 Aurora: Briar Rose

The majority of the time Aurora is depicted throughout Disney, she is either in a blue or pink dress. Rarely is she seen in what many call her peasant dress, which makes this card stand out instantly. Compared to her other cards which are more whimsical with swirling blue magical lines, this photo glows effortlessly by focusing the highlight or in this case the sun’s rays in the middle of the card.

Along with the mesmerizing lighting, the overall polished look and crisper lines gives her the appearance she is mid-twirl while she is dancing in the forest; transporting fans instantly to that moment in the movie.

9 Scar: Shameless Firebrand

Be prepared to be in awe. One of the best things that Lorcana did was create different versions of characters known as glimmers. Not much is known about Floodborns, but similar to Dreamborns they tend to have a lot more room for imagination compared to the Storyborns that are taken right from the movies. Even though this card doesn’t have an abundance of light or details, there is something that is alluring between the close focus on Scar, his emotion, and the mixing of reds, purples, and pinks

8 The Wardrobe: Belle’s Confidant

As a whole the Amethyst pack is the most stacked with eye-catching cards mostly because this is the Ink that deals with a lot of magic abilities. For example, looking at Belle’s Confidant our eyes are instantly drawn to the details that grace almost every surface. From dresses, to doors, and to the fabric that drapes the wall this card instantly pulls you in.

Plus, Belle is one of those princesses that doesn’t really have a sidekick like so many others do. So seeing Lorcana sort of play with this concept of the Wardrobe being Belle's confidant is exciting.

7 Goofy: Musketeer

He is sharp, crisp, and the center of attention. This card stands out for a variety of reasons, including the overall brightness. Goofy doesn't just glow here, he GLOWS like a God. This ethereal look is only heightened by the usage of green to break up the sunlight beaming down, the yellow glow around him, and the bright windows behind. The pop of color change doesn’t draw attention away, but in fact draws the attention even further towards the middle by acting as a border around him.

6 Mickey Mouse: Brave Little Tailor

It's not just the big scissors that makes this a beautiful creation, although the details on them are interesting. It's the overall concept from start to finish. Maybe it’s the fact that this image is deep in Disney history and based on the 1938 movie, Brave LIttle Tailor which gives it a little vintage look to the design.

Perhaps it’s the pop of colors on his outfit that makes him stand out against the duller, open space around him. Or maybe it's just because its Mickey Mouse, who just happens to not only be one of the best animated Disney characters, but the mouse that started it all. Whatever the reason might be, the fact is this card is a beauty to behold.

5 Moana: Chosen By The Ocean

One of the cool things about Lorcana is how different the art can be from one card to the next. This card is a great example as it moves away from the sharp, bold lines and towards a more watercolor aspect. Whereas other cards may catch your attention due to a more defined image, this card captivates by creating more of a background.

It isn’t just a powerful Moana drawing you in; it’s the oceans dividing, the sun over the islands in the back, and even the little sea creatures that lay on the sand. There is so much for you to look at and find in this photo, that you won’t mind staring at it for hours.

4 Timon: Grub Rustler

Who doesn't love animal companions? There is a slight trend in the Amber Ink cards that focus on using a lot of yellows and bright colors. However, this card stands above the others because of the details. Just looking at the bugs alone is a treat for the eyes, but as you start to move more towards the background you see the work in all the vines and layering of plants.

While it's fun to see more of the creative side of characters through the Dreamborn and Floodborn designs, there is just something about the Storyborns that when captured perfectly transports you to those fond moments that made these movies so memorable.

3 Rafiki: Mysterious Sage

Rafiki is sitting surrounded by magical hazes of purples and pinks from Disney's Lorcana

This card will have you looking harder just to see all the beautiful coloring and details. At first this image might easily be a skip over because of the purples blending together, but the closer inspection is when you start to notice the highlights of pinks that start to draw out that magical feeling.

Instead of bold lines drawing your attention to the details, this card uses a contrast of colors. Not to mention, purple is not a color one would associate with Rafiki, but it should be. This design only adds to the character so many of us love, which is a huge reason the artwork has been a major feature in Lorcana’s development.

2 Megara: Pulling The Strings

Image of a giant Megara holding the strings of a Hercules Puppet from Disney's Lorcana

You can’t deny that this card might have you falling in love. Not only is this a fun and beautiful way to reimagine one of Disney’s favorite couples, but it speaks volumes. Megara’s whole character starts off as Hade’s puppet, forced to do what he wants. Then add the fact that through her charm, she was able to lead Hercules along.

To see this artistic depiction of pulling strings, while also coating it with a stunning, light green and teal shade to create an earthy glow while she is in the garden is utterly delightful. As for the cherry on top of this masterpiece, that goes to the added details to Meg’s dress.

1 Tinker Bell: Giant Fairy

Giant Tinker Bell from Disney's Lorcana towers over Hook's ship in the harbor, while the Lost Boys watch from the cliffs

Hands down this is the best artwork on any of the cards in The First Chapter. It’s new, refreshing, and packs a punch. Between the details of The Lost Boys standing on the cliff, Hook’s Ship, the water and other surrounding scenery, this image paints a story.

We might now know what that story is exactly, but we want to know. Plus the idea of a giant Tinker Bell should strike fear into many, especially when she has that pout on her face. One to never shy away from being the center of attention, this card’s design is breathtaking.
